Don't be afraid to just chop! Plants are extremely resilient and a good prune will often result in a healthier more vigorous plant. This Begonia is in a bit of a mess now. It slowly started losing leaves and had a fungal infection after the heatwave. The heat was over 50C here in the kitchen so the plants were hit hard causing a lot of stress. Just like us when plants are stressed they are more likely to suffer from pests and disease. All is not lost though because when I checked the roots they were still very healthy so there's a good chance that this will regrow well. I cut away most of the growth which will stimulate new shoots. Cut just above a nice fat bud on the stem as this is where the new growth will emerge from. All of the cuttings will be stripped of leaves and used to grow more plants. Once the chop was complete I fed and watered it to give it an instant boost of nutrition and to help support the roots. The fertilizer will also stimulate soil microbiology that helps support the plant. I've now popped it on a sunny windowsill that faces south-west so it gets direct sun for a few hours in the morning which is perfect. Fingers crossed for some new growth soon! #houseplant #begonia #houseplantdiary #houseplantlover #houseplantsmakemehappy #plantsmakepeoplehappy #indoorplants #indoorgarden #propagation #botany #horticulture #houseplantcommunity #houseplanthoarder #interiordesign #greenarchitecture #interiors #flowers
