Please dont panic at the first sight of fever - fever is your body working its magic and trying to get you better . Your child is far more likely to have a viral illness if !!️they have a: Cough Runny or Stuffy Nose Watery eyes Noises whilst they are breathing (please youtube wheeze and stridor) . !!️Symptoms of Scarlet Fever are: Sore Throat Pain on swallowing or eating Swollen glands Strawberry /Swollen tongue Fever Body/muscle ache Rash - please see my highlights for what the rash looks like. In brown and black skin it can look and feel liek eczema Peeling of the skin on hands and feet after the rash disappears White coat on tongue Streaks or pus on tonsils . !!️Symptoms of Strep A also include: Tonsillitis Red throat White spots on tongue or throat If the only symptom your child has is a fever, its far more likely to be a virus than Strep . Treatment = Antibiotics for Strep and work quickly and well . Remember, please go to A&E if your child is Very tired or irritable Has breathing difficulty that is worsening Floppy and will not wake up/stay awake Under 3months with a fever over 38 . Any Qs? .
