Top tips to help your recovery after a Caesarean section πŸ’— Women often report receiving very little support or information about their recovery after a caesarean so here are some top tips to help you. 1. Getting in and out of bed can feel really scary, and hard to know how to handle it without using your tummy which is sore. Follow the technique in the video and it should reduce discomfort as much as possible. If someone can help you, ask them to support the weight of your legs. πŸ™πŸ» 2. Wounds need air and to be kept clean in order to heal. This does not mean you need to use lots of soaps or scented products. What I recommend is to use water from a shower head to gently wash the area, then after you shower, lie on your bed without and allow air to your wound. I know as new mums you don’t get much time on your own, but try and prioritise this. 🚿 3. Coughing, sneezing and laughing can put pressure on your wound and cause pain. Providing support from the outside using your hands or a rolled up towel or blanket can really help reduce discomfort. πŸ˜ƒ 4. Take regular pain killers to keep on top of pain. Sometimes writing down the times you are taking hour painkillers can help as it is easy to forget how many you’ve taken and when πŸ’Š 5. Slowly build up your activity levels. Start off with pottering around the house, then build up to short walks around the block and gradually increase from there. Try not to wait for a day when you feel better and head out for a very long walk. Listen to how your body feels. Any increased pain or swelling, listen to it, don’t ignore it πŸšΆπŸ»β€β™€οΈ @clarebournephysio If you have any concerns then please speak to your health care professional . . . . . #csection #birth #birthrecovery #toptips #health #postpartum #motherhood #parenting
