In reality, unions are the one thing standing between workers and corporate greed. A 🧵It was because of unions we have the five day work week, safer working conditions, better wages and more. State laws and propaganda have consistently tried to attack and take away union power. With the current labor movement, they are using similar tactics to scare and intimidate. What is a union? Unions are a collective of people that agree to stand together against corruption and greed. Workers, in our capitalist society, are seen as nothing more than bodies on the ground. We keep capitalism moving. Remember at one point child labor was seen as the norm. The lower the wages, benefits, the more the corporation pockets. The end goal is more money. How else to do this but attack unions and make them the ‘bad guy’? Unions ended child labor and invoked laws. They pushed for an 8 hour work day and 40 hour work week. Unions are currently fighting for living wages, healthcare, and right to safe working conditions. Unions are the center of organizing around human rights. From wage increases to climate change to healthcare, unions are organizing right now to fight for us all. We as a collective of human want to do more than just survive here. We want to be able to thrive and have a place for the next generation to live. Is it perfect?
