‘I had no pain at all after I got home from hospital, just slight discomfort for a few days. I’m currently as good as gold.’
The next generation of robotics is already here, and it’s being used at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital – where Nasser has become the first ever person to have his prostate gland removed by the new robotic system – Versius.
Diagnosed with prostate cancer, Nasser required surgery to remove the cancerous cells. With the new, robotic assisted surgery offering improved recovery and a quicker rehabilitation period, Nasser was eager to undergo the ground breaking procedure.
‘I was very excited and chuffed to be the first patient.’
During the operation, surgeons control the robotic instruments while sitting in the same room, looking down a small camera at the end of one arm to see inside the patient.
Nasser is now cancer free and looking forward to getting back to normal life.
‘I am back to doing four or five mile walks and when I come home I’m tired but not exhausted. Later this month I’ll be playing golf again.’
Congratulations to Nasser for his successful surgery, we hope to see you back out on the golf course soon! 🏌
