It’s so easy to feel overwhelmed at the moment - and totally understandable, there is so much going on, so many big changes happening. We can lose ourselves in the turmoil, not knowing where to turn or take shelter. Often shelter lies within ourselves, not externally. We can find peace through grounding ourselves in the present moment, observing rather than being overrun. Grounding yourself means simply pausing for a second in the maelstrom and focusing on the present moment. Sit down wherever you are, close your eyes gently, relax your jaw and breathe in through your nose feel your breath move through your body to your lungs and belly, feel your body expand, then let that breath out feeling your body contract. Do this ten times to activate your parasympathetic nervous system ( rest and digest) rather than your fight and flight - which the modern world insists we reside in. When you finish open your eyes and enjoy the simple beauty of something you notice for only 30 seconds and then carry on your day taking that small bit of calm with you. #shotoniphone #snapseed #mindfulness #mindfulphotography #oasisofcalm #calm #breathe #breatheinbreatheout #meditationpractice #northamburrows #sanddunes
