"I went into the emergency room for what I thought was just an abnormal menstrual cycle. As soon as I got there, the doctors ordered me to have blood work. They soon discovered that I had a hemoglobin level of less than 6 and dropping. I was informed that it was less than normal. I immediately received two units of blood, and needed more. I also discovered my iron was low as well. I was admitted to the hospital immediately. My blood levels are still slowly coming back up, but I still need another transfusion and will need them for a while longer. I am only 31 years old, and it’s definitely not something you ever think of happening to you. I am now diagnosed with hypothyroidism, anemia for low blood and low iron.
