The second fundamental eco-design principle is using circular materials – recycled or coming from renewable sources. When it comes to plastic, the use of recycled materials is vital for us. At Davines, we monitor all the packaging materials of products manufactured at Davines Village in Italy, and we’re happy to share that from 2014 to 2021, we’ve reduced the share of virgin fossil plastic by more than 60%, using recycled and bio-based plastic. Through this process, we’ve been able to avoid the use of 700+ tons of virgin fossil plastic, substituting it with materials that are recycled and bio-based. That’s the equivalent of over 4x the weight of the Statue of Liberty– and, that has allowed us to avoid over 1+ tons of CO2eq. Plus, the recycled plastic that we use comes mainly from PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) plastic bottles – which are strong, lightweight, and 100% recyclable! #ecofriendly #sustainablebeauty
