Just heard this in the car while running errands. Bawling. A MASTERPIECE! And then I had a flashback to high school when a Christian “rock music expert” revealed to us kids that this song was actually Satanic. He claimed the song was not about unwavering friendship and love, but rather heroin addiction. And he cited the lyrics “Sail on silver, girl” - explaining that meant the silver needle. Can you imagine going through life wasting your limited time on this incredible, awe-inspiring planet making beautiful things ugly? And then I started bawling again, for an entirely different reason. If God exists - in no matter what form, but for the sake of this argument let’s just say ANYTHING but a judgmental, petty, self-centered old White man - surely God wants us to focus on what is beautiful about being human and not waste our entire lives pissing on and/or demonizing joy and art and music and color and diversity and nature and pleasure. And please give this classic a(nother) listen 🌉
