Although I am still working on the conceptual foundations of this project I wanted to share and to ask for some critical feedback. Cracks of Freedom is an exploration into the possibilities of expression that can be created when measures of restriction are put in place. At present we are being dispossessed of some of the fundamental qualities that designate us as human beings, and although the work is not strictly a reflection of what we are witnessing; it none the less engages with our collective experience. The handcuffs that are here pictured were my grandfathers, who was a chief inspector. He died very young of a fatal heart attack and I never met him. My Father always told me to be a policeman, which is quite ironic really as when you become a police officer you have to swear to report the wrong doings of your family members. I’ll leave the rest to your imagination.
