Weekends. We are suppose to look forward to them...right...? And I do. I swear I do. You know, family time. Adventure time. Down time - lol, jokes. But does anyone else find it HARD? Because I do. I find it hard being out of routine. I find it hard parenting with someone else, when during the week I’m more often than not doing it by myself because he’s at work. I find it hard because the expectation is that we parent on the weekends “together” when all we both want to do is switch off... Not to mention we both want to get things done. We both want to get OUR things done. And trying to BOTH “do” things at the same time is utter disaster. One always needs to be “on” for the kids. Why is it so much more difficult to be constantly “on” on the weekends!? Not to mention being a united front & being on the same page - especially when it comes to nap times, awake hours, discipline, screen time, maximum amount of biscuits consumed & expectations is a lot - and it’s a lot for a Saturday & Sunday... And although we’ve found ways to help us navigate this, we both never expected family time to be, well...to be so challenging when we love it so much - but I guess that’s parenting in a nutshell, right...? Loving our children with every fibre of our bones whilst also being the hardest thing we’ve ever done...even on the weekends ❤️ Or maybe this is just us...is this just us...?
