From @vandanaaofficial- “Being a typical punjabi kudi I love kaleeras and Chura. Girls nowadays wear kaleeras for trend and fashion but the real reason to wear kaleere are purely different. Like my trousseau trunk, I always knew how my kaleeras would look. I’ve always wanted typical and Traditional kaleeras (purane time wale #coconut Aur #phuli wale ....#coconut is symbolic that a girl never runs out of food in the new home/ #goldpatti wale) I had an idea about how I want them to be and with the help of my bua jii, I got them custom made too, although it took 1 and a half month for my kaleeras to be made but they turned out to be exactly like how I wanted them.Kaleere signify happiness for a couple and serves as a reminder of the family love girl is leaving behind. Kaleere were also meant to be edible. Mostly because usually the distance between husband’s house and bride’s house would be significant, and these kaleere meant to hold snacks ( coconut, fox nuts etc) for her in case she got hungry on the way and is shy to ask her in-laws for food on the way. They also signify the prosperity that the bride would bring to her in-laws. Sisters, friends and cousins of the bride tie these kaleere on her wrist and that is the last step of her traditional Shringhar for on her big day. After the ceremony is over, the bride tries to drop a kaleere on the heads of her bridesmaids. If it drops on someone, this person is supposed to be the next in line to get married. I wore both kind of traditional kaleeras #coconutwale and #goldpattiwale” . .
