S/O to @ritaajanee for sharing this! So 2020 was a year where this conversation was quite visible. I wish I could say I believed the tides would shift because of it, but they haven’t, and it’s no surprise. A couple of these slides are a little problematic because there’s an assumption that complexion and hair texture are somehow related: THEY ARE NOT. Otherwise, until the folks responsible for putting together beauty teams expand their networks and offer opportunities to beauty practitioners outside of their comfort zones, we’ll keep having this conversation and a whole lot of nothing will keep getting done. Regardless, I am minding my business and working on perfecting my craft every damn day 🥃
