The exhibition Déjà View, based on the 2021 book by @martinparrstudio and @lee.shulman, is traveling to London 🇬🇧
Opening at @cromwellplace – the Magnum Gallery's new London space – on February 1, the exhibition playfully couples well-known photographs by Martin Parr with images from the @anonymousphotoproject’s collection of vernacular photography, taken between the 1950s and 80s.
"The spirit of the snapshot is at the heart of The Anonymous Project – and also what I do," says @martinparrstudio in a feature on the exhibition in today's @telegraph Magazine.
He adds, "The trouble with with fine-art photographers is that they often haven't got a clue what they want to say. Vernacular photographers, by contrast, know exactly what they want to shoot, whether it's a holiday, a birthday or whatever. There's purity to that. I have a strong affinity with such photography."
