On this day in 1999, ally and advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith established the Transgender Day of Remembrance to call attention to anti-trans violence and bring light to the murder of Rita Hester and countless other members of the trans community. In honor of #TDOR, our staff will be taking a day of radical rest on November 21 to reflect on, remember, and honor Trans ancestors who paved the way for future generations, and to mourn those we've lost to violence and hatred. We invite you to join us to remember those who died for simply existing. For not conforming. For being their authentic selves.
