When I think about important people who helped me live my authentic self, @pauljohncarli comes top of mind. Sometimes well intentioned people think it’s “helpful” to drag people out of the closet. Make comments or make “ jokes” to make people feel “safe.” My late teens and early twenties were filled with a number of people in my life trying to “help” me in ways they thought were helpful. Which is why on #nationalcomingoutday I am honoring PJ who accepted me with open arms into his world without judgment. Who guided me with inclusive love. I am forever grateful to my fairy godfather.
