‎On the 19th of October, 2024, A historical event in the City of Tamale happened, It was The Maiden Edition of Kali Bindira Chugu: A Celebration of Northern Tradition. ‎ ‎The theme of the event was :"Roots and Recipes, Reviving Ancestral Foods". ‎The topic was harnessing the power of indigenous crops for food security in the Northern Region. ‎ ‎"In every generation, it takes an exceptional individual to spark meaningful change. Yesterday, at the Choggu Naa’s Palace, we witnessed greatness unfold with the success of Amina and her Duduhugu Kitchen. The maiden edition of Kali Bindira Chugu, the very first traditional food festival of its kind in Tamale and the Northern Region, drew crowds from near and far to experience this historic celebration of indigenous food culture. ‎ ‎Amina’s dream to preserve ancestral Northern recipes became a reality. The festival offered children, youth, and elders a rare opportunity to reconnect with their culinary heritage, tasting dishes that have faded over time due to the influence of foreign food systems. Her mission was clear: to remind everyone that local foods are not inferior—a belief ingrained by the growing importation of foreign grains, vegetables, and processed foods. ‎ ‎“We will be food-sufficient and economically free if we embrace the wild vegetables, fruits, and edibles that our ancestors discovered,” Amina emphasized during the event. “For he who feeds you controls you.” She called on everyone to domesticate these natural resources and make them a part of their daily meals once again. ‎ ‎The Choggu Naa, His Royal Highness Mohammed Alhassan II, commended the initiative, expressing his pride that the event took place at his palace. He urged the audience to return to their ancestral recipes, highlighting the benefits of traditional foods—healthier, more affordable, and reflective of their unique identity. ‎ ‎The Chief of Sakoya, His Royal Highness Sintaro Mahama, served as the special guest speaker, reinforcing the importance of promoting traditional Northern foods." ‎ ‎Copyright © 2024 Written by GAIDA-COM GROUP ‎ ‎The Festival also featured Locally owned Natural and Organic Food vendors and businesses like : ‎1.
