When Chilunda, a male black rhino, went walkabout and ended up 200 km south, the team at @north_luangwa had to find a safe way to bring him back. The solution? A carefully curated rescue plan that included airlifting Chilunda upside down! Whilst it might seem out of this world, moving upside down by helicopter is actually one of the safest ways for them to travel. With vets on hand to monitor Chilunda's vital signs, as well as give him leg massages to relieve his muscles during flight breaks, they got him back to the safety of the North Luangwa National Park. 📸 All images Edward Selfe, North Luangwa Conservation Programme #BlackRhino #BlackRhinoceros #Black #Big5 #rhino #savetherhino #rhinoceros #saverhinos #rhinoconservation #conservation #wildlife #wildlifeconservation #wild #savetherhinocharity #leadingthecharge #illegalwildlifetrade #endwildlifecrime #stoppoaching #protectrhinos #saverhinoceros #savewildlife #poaching #wildlifepoaching #rhinopoaching #rhinoairlift #helicopter #translocation #zambia #northluangwa #sky
