The legendary hairstylist @guidopalau has created some of the most influential looks in fashion—among them the avant-garde updos for Alexander McQueen’s Plato’s Atlantis show, extreme rave cuts for Raf Simons, and famously, the glam supermodel styles in George Michael’s ‘Freedom’ video. “My memories are punctuated by hair,” he says. “The past, jogged by a certain song, a lyric or just a vague, hazy feeling, comes flooding back in a blur of iconic looks and I can place the era entirely.” To celebrate W’s 50th anniversary, the British talent crafted an array of career-defining looks and shared the stories behind them.
