🤍let us all come together🤍 We’re so excited for the opening of DRAWN TOGETHER: STORIES OF RESILIENCE AND RENEWAL IN NYC CHINATOWN. The exhibition showcases the work of Sammy Yuen and features his exquisitely detailed line drawings of historic New York City Chinatown businesses, landmarks, and community organizations. The exhibition will be open from Sept 10 through Dec 28. With DRAWN TOGETHER, Yuen hoped to highlight relevant buildings, all a part of NYC and Chinatown’s history. These neighborhood fixtures, from the oldest, run parallel to the history of Manhattan's Chinatown - from its establishment in the 1870s as Chinese immigrants, facing discrimination elsewhere, clustered on a handful of streets, to rising in a world redefined by a pandemic and renewed economic hardship, xenophobia, racism, and violence. DRAWN TOGETHER is presented in partnership with the incredible people over at @mottstreetgirls and @pearlrivermart A portion of the proceeds from this exhibition will be going to Chinatown businesses and to the @chinatownmuralproject, a not-for-profit dedicated to bringing large-scale murals to the NYC Chinatown area and beyond.
