what makes an idea an idea? why does one, when picked with creative creation choose certain elements as reference or inspiration over others? what makes you pick a style “aesthetic” and dress in different variations of the same outfit like a cartoon character everyday of the week. life and the way i navigate it has always been a question of making a decision and asking why pick this over any other one? what came about was the simple realisation that every “inspiration” i have now, stemmed from tiny pieces of my childhood which eventually brought me here today writing this very caption. i remember being told many years ago by my mother and brothers to always make sure i dressed like a “man” and at the time i never really knew what that meant but i wanted to look cool so i just really ran with it. then came a recurring theme in all my outfits for over 10 years - the ralph lauren oxford shirt. the shirt to me became more than just a clothing item but a way to connect with the older men in my life, it was a way of life and the one thing that led me down my preppy inspired fashion journey streaming sadly was not a thing growing up so listening to music more of a steal my brothers laptop and sync all his music to my ipod and hope he doesn’t notice type of affair. to cut a very long story short all those experiences from a long time ago are what i believe have shaped my influences today, everything i do and want to do are in some way related to one experience or the other from my childhood. i do it in such a way that it feels like i’m consulting a 13 year old version of myself when i’m in need for inspiration or looking in a metaphorical, time travelling “mirror” which then brings us finally to the man (project) of the hour. visually, this project is everything i am and everything i hope to be. i wanted to capture freedom and intimacy in a setting and styling direction i felt most comfortable in. this isn’t just a project but in essence is a reflection of me and my inspirations, my friends, my style influences and most importantly my childhood.
