I was having a conversation on the culture of art today which was inspired by a recent Bliss Foster video and the topic was surrounding whether true art is a dying craft or whether it is the appreciation for art which is the dying craft.
In the video he mentioned Fran Leibovitz who once said how artistry is nothing without the audience. How, in fact, the audience is just as important as the artist themselves. It’s that audience which holds a certain type of discernment and connesuiership. Those who recognize, appreciate and carry on the craft.
It made me think how if we truly care for the artistry and longevity of art itself in whatever form it may come in, we as purveyors should carry on more intentional discussions of art, music, fashion. To encourage conversation that carry more depth compared to, “mid” and “fire”, to a level of, as Fran mentioned, discernment, thoughtfulness, inquisition.
Anyways, I’m super proud of this one and so was the woman next to me on my flight.
