Back in 2005 we assembled a driving team under the banner of DC, and entered the Gumball 3000. Black Car: Suzy + I White Car: Ken + Lucy Blue Car: Rob + Big With Brian Scotto jumping in with Rob & Big for a portion of the rally to document. The rally consisted of 3000 miles across Europe over the span of a week, with little sleep and a lot of speed (gas pedal kind). Route: London Brussels Prague Vienna Budapest Dubrovnik Bari Palermo Rome Florence Monte Carlo It had to be one of the most intense experiences of my life. The numbers + logos on the cars pushed us into a race-like mindset with bullet proof driving confidence. There were so many moments that should of ended in complete disaster given the speeds we were driving at, with were averaging around 130mph as our cruising speed, and topping out on the new Croatian freeways at around 175mph, when racing the rally's super cars. I can't tell you how crazy this felt in a car not designed for these speeds aerodynamically. The most exhilarating part was the 3 car wolf-pack mentality we dropped into, as we would hunt down other cars with our radio transmitters, and coordinate passes during the sketchiest of scenarios (i.e. single lane mountain roads, freeway shoulders, fire lanes, reverse on-ramps, city streets, etc). The performance of these cars were amazing, especially in the turns. Being all-wheel drive, with engines tuned to around 430hp, we were smoking the rear wheel exotics no problem (in the turns). At one point I was pulled over in Italy for racing a Ferrari across the hilly mountain-side, only to be released for not speaking Italian. So many close calls over a 7 day period. To top off the adventure, we concluded the rally in Monaco during the Formula 1 Race. That was an entirely different experience, as I have never heard cars so loud before. Pure thunder. I could go on and on with the stories, and post another 20 or so photos, but I will leave it at this.
