we cannot underestimate the power celebrities, influencers and reality tv stars with vast platforms have in encouraging the overconsumption of planet polluting clothing.
fast fashion brands have the money to pay for these contracts because of the profit that they have built from exploiting garment makers - both in the Global South - and also here in Leicester, UK. there's a reason why you don't see small, ethical brands with this kind of money.
yes, we're aiming high when we say we want public figures to publicly denounce these partnerships, but we have to aim high. the climate crisis isn't waiting for any of us.
today felt like a good time to re-share photos from our protest outside the PLT fashion show in London back in February. huge shout out to the wonderful @OhSoEthical for co-organising and to @TwinBrett (slide 4) who was the first ever Love Islander to refuse to wear fast fashion on the show.
we cannot let announcements like today deter us. ONWARDS!!!
