Of all the things we see during whale season in Maui, I’m especially looking forward to those sweet and tender bonding interactions between mothers and their new babies. All marine mammal regulations for Hawaii were followed while viewing these animals. They chose to turn towards us and we shut down once they approached closer than the 100y viewing distance in our direction. These types of encounters are always on the whale’s terms.
