Back from Chicago– a wonderful fall weekend with great friends! We planned a trip after getting a reservation for @alinearestaurant and booked the trip! Relaxed. Low key. Fun. We ate and laughed our way through the city. – We all stayed at @langhamchicago and it was THE BEST. The perfect “home away from home” for a group of parents on vacation. The staff was the picture of hospitality and we loved all the amenities and food and drinks. Will 100% be back. – Alinea was an *experience*. Worth the trip and completely lived up to the reputation. (Also, this was my first time doing a tasting menu since discovering my various food allergies. I almost didn’t go because I felt guilty that I was disrupting the actual vision of the meal and also thought I wouldn’t have a normal experience. By course three, I completely forgot I was getting tweaked menu items because they did everything to make it as close to the original dish as possible– including plant based caviar @zeroecaviar!! The experience was theatrical, whimsical, and delicious! – We arrived to our reservation extremely early and serendipitously bumped into @leewolen who offered some suggestions on where we could grab a drink. After chatting for a bit, his son enthusiastically told us that we HAD to go to his dad’s restaurant.... the one and only @bokachicago. Mike and I went for dinner on Saturday night. We had dish after dish and everything was incredible. We agreed that we need to come back to Chicago to dine there again!! – Our itinerary was rather open-ended and casual. Wandered through @artinstitutechi– the miniatures are forever a favorite. Walked the Navy Pier. We got Chicago style hot dogs, deep dish pizza, and Italian beef sandwiches. – PS Guess who else was staying at the Langham!?! @kellyinthecity and her fam! We hung out with them for drinks before dinner and it was the best. Kelly and I text every day and rarely get to see other so this was a real treat. Always grateful to spend time with long-distance friends
