Current Obsession: My Job When I started @aninebingofficial a little over a decade ago, I never could have imagined how much joy it would bring me. Even though the first few years were very stressful (to say the least), the experience made me who I am today. That old school way of doing “fashion” has never been my thing. Whether it’s on set for a photoshoot, in one of our retail stores, or at our HQ office, I strive to create kind, supportive environments where my team feels their most comfortable, confident, and inspired. I remember being young and insecure, walking into high-end boutiques and not feeling welcome. I hated that. It was really important that when we opened our first ANINE BING store, it felt warm and inviting. I still can’t believe that by the end of 2022, we will have opened almost 20 stores around the world! Pinch me. Creative collaboration is by far the most rewarding and exciting part of my job. My role as Founder and Chief Creative Officer touches upon so many aspects of the business, allowing me to work closely with many members on my team from all different departments, from retail and buying to PR and creative. It feels so good to see a collection come to life, or drop a campaign on our website after seeing how many people came together to make it happen. The feeling I get when I’m on set, in fittings, or at a newly opened ANINE BING store is unlike anything else I have ever experienced. To say I am grateful is an understatement. I guess what I am trying to say is that I hope all of you, like me, make it a top priority to follow your dreams. Take that step towards what might seem impossible. The hustle is worth it, and I still wake up with butterflies in my stomach because I am so excited to get to the office. I am so incredibly thankful for being able to work with such talented people who teach me new things every day. (You all are so awesome and mean the world to me.) Remember to lift women up around you. Choose inspiration over competition. Set goals for yourself that allow you to learn and grow. But most importantly, be kind along the way.
