One of the most fascinating things in nature is when you have relationships between different living things. Especially when mutually beneficial.
These little drops are a carbohydrate rich nectar that attracts ants to the plant. They eat this sugary mixture and in turn defend the plant against pests and being eaten.
This isn't the same as guttation which is those little drops of liquid that you typically get on the tip of your leaf.
Extra floral nectaries appear in several plant families and they are particularly prevelant and easier to see in Philodendron. What's even smarter is that they tend to be concentrated on the most vulnerable parts of the plant like the new growth in the video meaning that they are more heavily protected.
