😭😭😭 Tomorrow she turns 16! I’m already crying. The road has been long, it’s been hard, in so many ways, but it’s also been so rewarding. This was 3 yrs ago, she learned how to ride a bike at 13. Something we thought might never happen, it takes a lot of balance and coordination to ride a bike. Having one sided Cerebral palsy, her whole left side is very tight, it makes everyday tasks challenging let alone trying to ride and balance a bike. We were looking into bike camps in the Midwest for kids with CP and special needs bikes. She set a goal that Jan to ride a bike and after practicing the whole yr before, she did it! When she did, all of those moments came flashing back, it was all the work she put in over the years. The surgeries, the therapies, the casting, it all led to that moment of riding a bike. 😭 Now that she’s turning 16, she’s ready to drive! We’re not quite ready for that yet and she is cognitively younger than 16. But, with the help of self driving cars, we’re not saying never. One day, she might just do it! She is so resilient, strong, and has the best attitude with the challenges she’s been given in life. I am so proud of her! 🥹
