These fluffy marine mammals can be found in several of your national marine sanctuaries on the West Coast, including Olympic Coast, Monterey Bay, and Greater Farallones. Did you know that sea otters are protected under the Marine Mammal Protection Act? USFWS provides leadership in the conservation and management of our nation’s marine mammals under our jurisdiction – sea otters, Pacific walruses, polar bears, and West Indian manatees – as well as the marine ecosystems that support them. Over the past fifty years, the Marine Mammal Protection Act has made a difference for the survival and well-being of marine mammal species in U.S. waters.
