New York must become a safe and welcoming destination state for abortion. With the fall of Roe and the increasing number of total abortion bans, out of state patients will increasingly turn to New York to provide them with abortion care. It’s our duty to make sure they get it safely and without harassment, especially for the Black, Brown, and low-income people that are always impacted disproportionately by abortion bans. . EDIT: The haven coalition is currently overrun with volunteer and is asking for a pause on new applications — please be mindful of their boundaries and capacity! . Here are some crucial actions you can take to help ensure this security: 1. Participate in clinic defenses to keep religious extremists from harassing patients. 2. Help fund abortion costs, including transportation and housing, for out of state patients. 3. Share resources about self-managed abortion. 4. Flyer at fake clinics and crisis pregnancy centers that trick and intimidate patients. . As New Yorkers, we have a special role to play in the fight for abortion access.
