Breastfeeding can be challenging both physically and mentally— but also socially. Our society lacks the support needed for a successful breastfeeding journey and @kateontheblog explores this in her blog post. Here's an excerpt— head over to her page for more.👇
"Many people choose not to breastfeed, but some people want to breastfeed with all their hearts and are not able to achieve it either initially or long term. This isn’t their fault— it's the system. Our society lacks the support conducive to breastfeeding. We offer some services— but at a price, and sometimes people can’t access them because of barriers (the provider type, or your insurance coverage, or accessibility). That is what #WorldBreastfeedingWeek aims to highlight + inspire those in charge and with influence to help correct.
Those who wish to breastfeed should have support in doing so— no matter who you are, where you are, or how much money you have. It should not be as hard as it is for some to get help. It also shouldn’t be as hard as it is to continue or in some situations, and to not feel shamed!
I could go on and on, but I just wanna say I am one person in the system who cares about making this better. I’m just a little person, but there are many of us little people and together we can make a difference. ❤️"
