Finally checked @meteora.la off the list! It has one Michelin star and the most stunning and ethereal ambiance. The front entrance alone is iconic. You can choose between a 4-course ($125) or 6-course ($165) tasting menu with various supplements. I went with the 6-course option with wine pairing ($125). They also offer a mixed beverage pairing that includes a cocktail, sake, wine and mocktails ($95) in addition to a fully nonalcoholic pairing ($65). The creativity and presentation of every course was stunning. The flavors were good to great. I am still dreaming of the diver scallop crudo with persimmon. And the embered yam that had a beurre blanc sauce that tasted like sour cream and onion Ruffles in the absolute best way imaginable. I was also impressed with the use of cherimoya in the Tigernut custard dessert. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen it incorporated into fine dining. For such a beautiful, avant garde and expensive establishment, the service could use some improvement. Lots of waiting, forgotten drink orders and rushed delivery of food and beverage. The service did improve quite a bit for second half of the meal and overall, I enjoyed the dinner. It was good but it had the opportunity to be spectacular. If I were to return I would eat a bigger lunch, do the 4-course menu, skip the wine pairing and get just one or two glasses to enjoy with dinner. 📍Meteora 6703 Melrose Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90038 #michelinstarred #michelinstar #lafoodie #losangelesfood #lisaeatsla
