Happy 10 months to my little pumpkin ❤ This means 10 months of breastfeeding for us. I now have Silver Boobs with Plantinum nipples 🤭 Breastfeeding isn't always a walk through the park as people make it out to be. Some of us struggle from the beginning and some of just get on with it straight away. In my birth plan, I hoped to feed straight after my delivery buy my pumpkin wasn't ready to latch. The delivery midwife tried as you can see but it wasn't working. I was then left alone and had to just give it a try. She was drinking but it didn't feel right. During my time on the ward the midwifes didn't help much with the feeds. They told me as long as her nappy was wet she was fine. I thought it was good but I needed more help. When I was discharged to the community team they helped me to ensure baby's latch was strong. The team were amazing and didn't discharged us until week three. In the first two months I had sore, tender breast, cracked nipples and all sorts. I used @lansinohfamily nipple cream and balm which saved me. I also used a heat pack to place on my breast. Fortunately, I was given lots of tips and advice which helped me understand breastfeeding alot more. It's an area I thought I'd find straightforward but boy was I wrong. We used #tommeetippee breast pump then moved to the #haakapump. With ongoing support from mum, family, friends, community team and the @peanut app we are not pros lol. We are now using @elvie pump which is our fave. For those who are considering breastfeeding. - If you struggle at the beginning don't give up. - If you must express enjoy that as it is still breastfeeding. - Don't be afraid to ask questions, don't be afraid to admit that you need help. - If it hurts check your latch. - There are different feeding positions. - Don't be disheartened if someone says cover up or ask when you will stop. No matter what you choose to do. Enjoy your journey and enjoy your baby.
