I’ve recently had some comments suggesting that Luke doesn’t “put me first,” because of how we pose in pictures. 🙃 Give me a break. For starters, I stand where I want to stand. To suggest otherwise insinuates that I don’t have the capability to speak up for myself, which is a gross misrepresentation. If I wanted to stand in front of Luke, I would. It has nothing to do with “me putting him first, nor him putting me first.” It’s what’s comfortable to us. Secondly, I’m taller. Thirdly, and probably most importantly, I never received these comments before Luke came out as Trans, and I don’t find that ironic. Our society has pushed so many gender “norms” down our throats, they’re practically woven into everything we do. From what we can or cannot wear to who should stand where in a picture... That’s not for me. I believe everyone is uniquely and wonderfully made. We’re all individuals with our own likes, dislikes, wants, needs, comforts, discomforts, etc. Humanity cannot simply be divided by two. Our world needs to stop trying to shove people into boxes they don’t want to be in. I like holding my man. That’s all. Anyways, thanks for coming to my TED Talk. P.S.
