Based in Los Angeles, California, Brad Hock aka Bardo Bread (@bardo.bread) is a multimedia artist that uses writing, sculpture, illustration, and stop motion filmmaking to explore how stories and symbols of the past are connected to the present. He views his work as a continuation of the constant transformation that these symbols endure over time and telling, in what is essentially the upkeep of an old folk tradition in a contemporary context. The “Rubber Hose” series is a group of sculptural works from Bardo Bread exploring mutations of nostalgia using clay cartoon themes of the past. The goal is evoke a sense that the viewer has stumbled across a forgotten imaginary friend.
