Read how Student Physiotherapist Axl helped Robert, who is waiting for a heart transplant, with prehabilitation to prepare him for his surgery. 🔽 'Robert needs to stay in our critical care unit until he gets his transplant because his heart is failing. It needs to be supported by a mechanical pump so he is unable to go home. It's important for Robert to continue to work on his strength and stamina so he can be in the best possible shape should he get the call for a lifesaving transplant. I created "Robert's ride home” with a visual representation of the journey so far to keep him motivated. Working with Robert was an absolute joy. He is always extremely receptive toward staff and, despite his circumstances, remains extremely positive. As a student at the beginning of my journey I would like to thank everyone at @royalpapworth for the opportunities they provided me — I feel I have grown as both a practitioner and a person during my time there.'
