As a young tomboy, my only interest in my appearance was connected to dance. The combination of music, physical movement, and the costumes seeded my early imagination. I especially loved how the dance-wear helped me to move. I would turn them inside out to see where stretch panels were placed, and how trims were attached. That technical curiosity has always stayed with me, much more than the decoration. All these years later, I still prioritize the body's movement while designing. A good ensemble should make you feel ready to take on any of life's tasks, supported and enhanced by each article.
