On 9/11, Moira Smith, an officer in the New York Police Department helped evacuate people from the World Trade Center's south tower. Moira Smith was said to be selfless in the line of duty. Her dream was to become a police officer to help those in need. Along with 343 firefighters who were killed, Smith, 38, was among 72 law enforcement personnel who died in the attacks. Smith was the only female officer among the 23 NYPD cops who died on 9/11. Today we take a moment to remember all of the men and women who lost their lives on that tragic day. Never forget.
