The world feels so full of hate these days. From the senseless war in Ukraine to the atrocious “don’t say gay” bills targeting our most vulnerable youth in Florida and Texas. Bills limiting teachers from teaching about America’s long history of racism and those aimed at curbing our ability to vote- chipping away at our most basic democracy. All piled onto the emotional trauma of a global pandemic. My mother lost her oldest brother to the war in Vietnam many years ago. To commemorate his loss and her striving for peace, she biked the shape of a peace sign around North America- nearly 15,000 miles in the us and Canada- you can read about her journey *and her Guinness records* (yes you read that right! And in her 70s!) on https://lifeislikeabike.wordpress.com. We express ourselves differently, but I also strive and hope for peace. For Americans of color living with racism, for Ukraine, for lgbt youth growing up in these fraught times. My heart aches. I know this account is a bit frivolous, but I have met some truly lovely people here. People who give me hope and who warm my heart. I hope that at the very least Roxy in her outfits can give you a moment to smile in these dark days. Please join me in hoping for peace.
