!!️ Educational Waxing Post !!️❌FOLLICULITIS after a Brazilian wax❌ 🖐🏼Folliculitis looks intimidating and can be uncomfortable but it ISN’T uncommon for this to happen after a wax. It is a minor infection of the hair follicles because the skin was exposed to bacteria or simply got irritated from the hairs being pulled out. Planning ahead and listening to the advice of your Esthetician whilst following after care is key🔑. ❌Triggers include refraining from the following 24-48 hours after a wax. ❌ ▪️having sex / masturbating ▪️touching the area with dirty hands ▪️taking a hot bath or shower ▪️entering a pool/jacuzzi/beach/or lake ▪️working out / sauna ▪️excessive sweating ▪️first wax ever ▪️wearing lace underwear or constricting clothes ▪️going into a hot sweaty work environment after a wax ▪️sun bathing ▪️putting creams/fragrance/or any products not recommended by your Esthetician ▪️staying in the heat for prolonged periods of time ▪️wearing dirty underwear ❌Okay so you have folliculitis now what ? ❌ ▪️It’s important to refrain from doing anything that will further irritate the area ⬆️ ▪️cleanse the area with an antiseptic cleanser such as hibiclens antimicrobial and antiseptic soap ▪️warm salt water wash and compress ▪️icing daily will help reduce the inflammation ▪️no touching, itching, or trying to pop your folliculitis ▪️wear cotton underwear ▪️avoid perfumed oils / creams ▪️continue to follow after care using bikini safe oils daily after the shower such as Fur or Bushbalm Oil ▪️Do not harshly exfoliate as this can further irritate the folliculitis or pop them ▪️Do not use dirty towels to clean yourself after the shower ❌WHAT TO DO IN BETWEEN WAXES❌ ▪️follow your estheticians recommendations for prep and after care CONSISTENTLY (my first time clients get an after care pouch with instructions and verbal instruction from me) ▪️plan ahead & prep for your wax Folliculitis tends to go away on it’s on anywhere from a couple days to 2 weeks • • • #folliculitis #dermatologist #pimplepopper #skincare #waxingtips #waxingaftercare
