In addition to the Drew League Championship Game, Championship Sunday's slate of games also included the second-ever Women's Drew League showcase. With even longtime fans unaware of the Women's Drew, the game gave them a chance to learn about the Drew's sister league and find out about the pro-level talent it also draws. The two teams, Young Legends and Team Truth, were made up of Women's Drew regulars like Toccara Renee, Ashley Wilson, Courtney Ford, and Drew Edelman. Former New York Liberty player also joined, as did former Women's Drew MVP Tear'a Laudermill. From the tip-off, the ladies put on a show, with a close game that saw Team Truth leading the way for nearly all 32 minutes. Although Young Legends had the leading scorer of the game in Renee, who had 17, Truth had more balanced scoring, with greater contributions from the bench, stouter defense, and smarter shot selection throughout. The Legends also had a tougher time hanging onto the ball – partly a result of that above-mentioned defense, but partly due to a lack of defensive rebounding that gave Team Truth a ton of extra looks at the basket courtesy of the towering Edelman. Although the stakes were seemingly lower than those in the main event, that didn't stop the players from giving their all. As a preview of the upcoming 2022 Women's Drew season, it couldn't have been much better at generating buzz for an exciting October. Hoop fans who stop by won't be leaving disappointed. @womensdrew šŸ“ @aaronsmarter šŸŽ„ @hustle_2k šŸ“ø @creativenlb5
