17 days til NYFF!
Nan Goldin is the poster artist for this 60th edition of @thenyff and when she shared these two posters with us over the summer we realized we couldn’t pick just one. We asked and Nan agreed, so this year there are two NYFF posters!
The annual NYFF poster designed by a noted artist is one of wonderful traditions of The New York Film Festival. It began in the first year of the Festival with a poster by Larry Rivers and an illustrious roster of artists have created posters for The New York Film Festival over the years, including Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Kara Walker, David Hockney, Richard Avedon, Saul Lewitt, Julian Schnabel, Cindy Sherman, Robert Rauschenberg, John Waters, Diane Arbus, Saul Bass, and Laurie Simmons, among so many more.
During this year’s NYFF, audiences will be able to check out past NYFF posters at an exhibition in our Furman Gallery at Lincoln Center.
Having Nan as our poster artist is such an exciting touch for us this year. She is the subject of Laura Poitras’s remarkable new documentary, “All The Beauty and The Bloodshed,” winner of the Golden Lion at the recent Venice Film Festival, and this year’s NYFF Centerpiece Selection. The film screens at the New York Film Festival on October 7th.
A limited number of posters will be sold, and can be pre-ordered, at FilmLinc.org right now!
Thank you to Nan Goldin, her studio, and our friends at Participant as well as producer Howard Gertler for helping to make this happen!
