Meet the all-female paediatric urology team from @chelwestft — one of the only teams in the UK developing a robotic surgery programme for children. ‘We look after children of all ages with urinary tract and genital abnormalities, and also cover paediatric surgical emergencies, including performing surgery on premature babies in neonatal intensive care.’ Marie-Klaire, pictured here operating the Da Vinci robot, is the Consultant Paediatric Urologist and Service Lead for Paediatric Surgery. The Da Vinci robot is capable of making smaller incisions during operations, meaning patients have reduced pain, less scarring and can return home quicker. Having worked together for over 10 years, the team say they feel privileged to work within a team of women, and are now like sisters. ‘Working as part of this team of all women surgeons is extremely rewarding.
