I love my community! Boston has been my home for many years now and I feel so accepted here and able to be my authentic self! I strive to make everyone feel as welcome as I feel, and as a voice for the community, it is so important to me to spread awareness and resources to those who may need it. Unfortunately, the opioid crisis along with COVID-19 has caused an increase in drug use, overdoses and infectious disease in the Boston community. But together, we can fight back against overdose and disease for the people and places we love. A short-term decision to use drugs shouldn't mean devastating long-term consequences like disease or death. Infectious diseases often spread through the use of certain drugs, so providing safe and clean supplies when these drugs are used means we're protecting the lives and futures of our neighbors and loved ones. Places that offer access to safe and clean supplies are about much more than syringes. They also often connect people to other important resources like Narcan, substance use treatment, disease screening and care, and social and mental health services.
