About 15 years back, deliberated on just becoming, like all other stores, all women’s ..... not carrying men’s at all. That’s when I did an about face, I went bold and strong exterior and painted the shop black, and never looked back.
Though women spend more and shop more for reasons we won’t go into here, men’s clothing has something women’s don’t. This shirt is example. And men get all the pockets.
Point is, men are freaking amazing and very often silent and unappreciated. They have so much ‘value’.
My own father was just that. What he said mattered and kinda profound and the shop, if he were alive, he would be beyond. Important truths, and he always told me the truth whether I liked it or was ready for it... one he said was, “if someone else can do it, you probably can too”. I put that in my arsenal of mental tools and ran with it again, not looking back.
Most of who I am, though not male, is because of him. He believed in me even when I didn’t and was firm but mostly kind with his words except when I had to hold the flashlight. Iykyk. when he completely rebuilt the car in our garage. To this day I can do a whole lot of mechanical work and nearly fearless to go after it. Because of him. (If you need your brakes done... easy breezy. Bleed your brakes? Yep, can do. All because of him)
Anyway, this is a roundabout way of saying Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there. You are profoundly important. Irreplaceable in your children’s lives and family.
For good pointers on all this, @calmparentingpodcast is a must. It’s a movement.
