Next (and the MOST important) stawp on my gratitude tour is my damn FAMILY. Everyone has been so warm and supportive since I've entered the arena of drag. I spent so many years worried about how my family would perceive/receive me after comin' out as BI many, many years ago. But they've been by my side all the while. They've learned AND unlearned as I have done the same. And they've doubled-down in their support since my drag career has begun. Tho things ARE changing, this amount of support can still be really rare in the Black community. And I am forever proud/grateful! Most of my drag pieces have come from my Mother, thifter extraordinare. Some of my favorite wigs and accessories come from my Aunties. My tracks often get one final cleaning/tightening pass from my Uncle. My sass and demeanor comes from my Grammy. And my strength/determination/no-nonsense attitudes from my Father and Brother. It takes a village, y'all. And I have the best in the biz. My Mom and Brother even flew out (from ATL and NC respectively) to surprise me and attend the finale! It was a dream come to life.
