"Weird Goodbyes" featuring our friend @boniver is the first new @thenational song we have released in 3 years. It's out today and is part of a new album we've been making. This one felt like the right one to share first. The song mourns a loss of innocence and motivation and the grief we all suffer in weird goodbyes. Somehow I still find it uplifting though -- which is always the mysterious thing about National songs. Lots of folks helped us with this -- first and foremost @blobtower who sings so powerfully with Matt. I'm so grateful as always for Justin's friendship and how generous he is as a musician. Bryce orchestrated and recorded beautiful strings for the song with the incredible @lcorchestra -- and @kresnick @lanzprojects @900x @lisahannigan @tingalayo @sopercussion and @mouseonmars_official all lent us their magic. @heyjonlow engineered and mixed this song with engineering help along the way from @bellaicecream @david_chalmin and Peter Katis.
