My sweet Matcha... when I adopted Matcha, the vet told me they’d be surprised if she made it to one year old given her feline leukemia diagnosis. In typical Matcha fashion, she was an absolute fighter to the very end, making it almost 5 years past what the vet told us. The strongest little 8 pound kitty I’ve ever known. Adopting Matcha was the best decision I’ve ever made, even though I knew it would come with a shorter time together than most pet owners get with their cats. I knew that she deserved a happy and loving life for as long as she had, and I’m so grateful that I was the one who was able to give her that. From being with me through the pandemic, to moving across the country, through heartbreak, new apartments, job changes... Matcha was my sidekick and best friend through it all. She taught me so much about compassion, companionship, and unconditional love. Everyone who met Matcha had the same reaction: she’s so social, funny, and unlike any cat they’d met before. She turned people into cat people. She was sassy, spunky, and full of life. It’s unfair that our time together was so short, but it was such a privilege to get to love her. I’m so grateful to the Wisconsin Humane Society for giving her a chance - many FeLV+ cats are immediately put down when they arrive at shelters, and there are an abundance of misconceptions about what FeLV is. FeLV+ kitties deserve just as much love as any other cat, and have so so much love and life to give. I hope wherever you are there’s a good sun spot to bask in, birds to chase, spiders to befriend, and McDonald’s french fries to be had. Until we meet again my Matcha girl 🤍🌈
