The one wish I had for December was to visit Jane Austen’s house, all bedecked for Christmas. And my wish was granted! We just squeaked in before the new year. I wandered around, happily immersed in Jane’s life, literature and - it must be confessed - wallpaper. (Let us hope seeing the tiny, rickety table at which Austen wrote her novels inspires my own writing next year. Although I hesitate to replicate her wallpaper having heard the price...) With thanks to my lovely family for humouring my obsession. My husband even bought me a bauble with Jane’s house on it - and it immediately became my favourite Christmas present.
